Dana 70B Rear Driver's Side Axle Seal

Post by LuvMyScamper »

Does anyone have a part number for this? We had to check our rear brakes, and in so doing the axle seal has to be replaced. It's a 1971 with dual rear wheels. My hubby has gone to the parts store twice and they have given him the wrong seal each time. I went to the schematics section here for the rear axle and printed it off for him, which he took to the parts store, but they couldn't cross-reference the number with anything.

We have a Napa store as well, but they were useless...asked if a F350 was a Ford, and then couldn't find any axle seals at all for it. You pretty much have to have a part number on hand to get anything from this Napa store. Also I have googled for hours today trying to find an answer but am not having any luck. I've found some that might be it, but I'd rather have a part number straight from one of you guys if I could.

TIA,
Cindy

Cindy, Gave a call to my local jobber, Wasnt sure if you were looking for the inner oil seal that goes in the back side of the hub or the outter flange gasket that has 8 holes in it. So I got numbers for both.

The inner hub seal that you have to press out and press the new one in is a NATIONAL 9864S

The outter axle flange gasket is a FELPRO 55328

Also take into consideration not all seals are made the same. The national may look different than the CR or other brands but the sealling surface is still where it needs to be. fyi. Good luck

Thanks Rich! I think it's the outer seal we need.

Oops I've just been corrected it's the inner seal we need, not the outer flange gasket, but you got that covered with numbers for both.

Thanks so much for the help!
