I thought I would post some pictures of what the Bronco looks like today.
Unfortunately there has to be a whole lot of ugly before she can look beautiful again.
I decided to stay with the 4x4 drive train.
So time to clean up the frame.
I intend on this being a driver, so I’ll try not to get too carried away with all the show car detail.
A little help of a pressure washer.
It’s tough laying on your back getting the grease off of the bottom of the frame.
All washed and metal prepped.
This is as far as one quart of POR15 goes.
And done.
I’ll give more attention to the wheel and areas when I go through the brakes and seals.

The thread lives again!! I was going through withdrawals for updates on this projects. There are like 3 projects on this forum that I cannot wait for updates on and this is one of them. Glad to see an update and wow!! It is looking amazing!! Any of us that have torn one down to rebuild it, understands the ugly before the beauty, but we can also see the beauty potential as it goes along!! This is one amazing build!!

This is one of my favorite builds. I thought at one point the qtrs were on it though. Just clamped & not welded in? Everyone will probably shoot me for this one but why not just add the bump down the side of a dent Bronco? The only real difference would be the overhang above the windshield. With all you have done here I would think adding that portion to the top of the roof wouldn't be a big deal.

There are a couple more differences, like, EVERYTHING! The truck was never built please explain what is different between a FS bump Bronco & a dent Bronco. How could anything someone did be wrong? I recently seen a pic of what many thought was a bump extended to make a Supercab. It was a Supercab made to look like a bump. For someone who knows the differences in bodies it wasn't that hard to spot. It was done so well the magazine it was featured in misspoke & said Ford started building Supercabs in '72.averagef250 wrote:There are a couple more differences, like, EVERYTHING! Replace the front clip, hang a couple doors, run the bump in the remaining open areas. Add the overhang & replace the bottom of the qtrs just behind the rear wheel. Pull the dash and replace with a bump dash. Let's see, did I miss anything?

As you can see on page one, someone has already done as you suggested.

To any bumpologist, this counterfeit is as easy to spot as a diamond ring out of a bubble gum machine.
(No disrespect intended.)
Although this is the only picture of this I have seen of this particular truck, here are some things I can spot right off.
1. The front edge of the door is curved rather than straight vertically.
2. The upper rear corner of the door is square rather than rounded.
3. The door handle recess is too big and square rather than rounded ends.
4. The drip rail is straight and ends at the shell rather than curving down.
5. The body line just above the door handle is missing on the door and bed side,
The body used for this project was an 80’s model or later.

In 1969 Chevrolet introduced the K5 Blazer a full sized shorten version of the pickup. This body style continued until 1972. The end of Ford’s bump side.

I have no doubt that somewhere in Ford Motor Company’s archives, there are renditions of a full size Bronco in the bump style intended to compete with the K5 Blazer.
Although my Bronco is also a counterfeit; it is what I believe Ford’s prototype would have looked like if it was ever put in steel.
My goal is to build that prototype.

Don't get me wrong I want to see the truck finished. The truck in the image provided is so far away in body design I don't think anyone would actually miss the differences providing they know even the least little bit about bumps. If I remember correctly the only real difference between a dent & bump are the driprail, overhang & body line just below the window.

Bump doors are 100% different from dent stuff man. No disrespect intended at all, but you ever look at them before? I can't see all that well and I can tell a dent from a bump from many hundreds of yards away from the side, the front or the rear- And you can't tell the dent/bump difference from the side from a long ways out, but you sure as hell can see the difference in the door jambs.elgemcdlf wrote: The truck was never built please explain what is different between a FS bump Bronco & a dent Bronco. I love this build, really truly do. I love bumps because they're built 100 times better than dents at their core, but dents got all the cool options that just happen to fit into bumps. I really dislike the 78-79 Ford grills- The only grill to come on the fullsize bronco, but I like the idea of the fullsize bronco and wish it were made in a bump. To take it to the next level it would be just plain cool to have a 67-72 bump bronco that is, down to the pretty small details, exactly like Henry would have built it. It would be a lot of fun to play dumb when someone stops you in a parking lot and asks how you built the truck. If you built it good enough you could just play dumb "I didn't build it. My dad bought it new in late '71 just like it is. Dealer wanted it off their lot, said this model didn't sell very well. He got it for a pretty good deal, even has AC" Watch the guys jaw drop as he believes you, then tell him what you really went through to make it. That's why this is so cool, because it really could have been made, it just wasn't. It's not crazy, trendy or over the top, it's a vehicle that's going to make people stop and think when they see it, maybe not even right away, but hours or days later they'll stop and think how there was something strange about that Bronco they saw.
