As of the beginning of
July 2004, FORDification.com has moved off the server it had been on
since it's inception in June 2003 to a regular commercial hosting server. This
move was facilitated by the demise of the previous server, and the
desire to be hosted by a professional facility which could
provide site enhancements not available before.
Just so you know, the
entire website is designed, maintained and funded by one person...myself. At the
present time there is no outside help with any aspect of the site or
it's maintenance and/or updating. All fees for it's hosting are paid out
my pocket, because of my love of classic Ford trucks and my passion for
website design. With this site I'm able to combine the two worlds, and
hopefully help, inspire and inform my visitors.
This comes at a price,
however. Website hosting isn't necessarily cheap. A simple webpage with
a few pictures can easily be handled by any one of a hundred free
hosting sites, but they aren't equipped to handle heavy traffic and
often don't include the extras that really make a mediocre site into
something you'd want to return to. Basically...you get what you pay for.
Since I wanted FORDification.com to have features not available on a
free site, I've opted to crack open the wallet and lay down my money.
The addition of the
Photo Galleries is one enhancement which I really felt the site needed
to have. They will allow you to upload pics of your trucks, and I'll
host them here for you. However, the increased server space used by the
pictures and the increased bandwidth necessary for everyone to view them
drives up the hosting costs.
Therefore,
following the suggestions of some of the regular users of the
FORDification forums,
I've decided to accept donations via PayPal. All donations received will
be put into a savings account I've set up specifically for the purpose
of covering website-related expenses only. This includes website
hosting, server space and bandwidth upgrades and any further expansion.
By no means is it mandatory (or even suggested) that you do so...this is
completely voluntary on your part....but it will be greatly appreciated!
If you prefer, you can also donate with a personal check. Scroll down
for more info.
