My 1967 F100 in Az with A/C!!!

I live in the Valley of the Sun, and it's already warming up!!!! I bought my 67 LWB F100 a few weeks ago for $1500. It has a rebuilt 300 in it, and a 3spd on the column. The thing that sold me on the truck is the ice cold air conditioning. I had a 69 F100 years ago, and the 67-69 is my favorite Ford body style. The 300 won't win races, but is a solid engine.

The truck came with 80's/90's Enkei 15x8.5" rims that I hate! I picked up a set of Indy 15x7" slot mags yesterday and did a quick cleaning on them before they were mounted to the 235/75r15's today. I love the looks of slot mags. I guess I'm a pretty plain guy( favorite truck and favorite wheels).

The 300 has a manual choke and a 1bbl carb on it. It had an aftermarket air cleaner about the size of a pop can. I rigged up a 14" aftermarket air cleaner today and it works wonderfully. I also affixed an old school steering wheel wrap!

I degreased 47 years of crude from under the engine last week. The power washer & purple power had their work cut out for them. Some of the really stubborn stuff will have to come off another day. I tightened up some bolts and my friend helped me square away the drum brakes. Tomorrow, the truck (affectionately named "John-boy" by my daughter) will get new hoses and belts. The emergency brake will work by the end of the day and I'll also swap out the fuel lines.

The truck was originally a Custom Cab with a 240/6. It was originally a baby blue with a white top. The bed is from a Sport Custom and has seen it's share of heavy use. I hope to find a better bed and paint it back to lt blue & white this year.

from SoCal. Awesome truck..I love the look and those 5 slot mags are the best you can get and look right at home. Those KMC wheels you had on it came and went with the 80's. I had a set of those on my 88 Toyota mini truck back in the day.

Thanks! I forgot that the carb was cleaned, oil, gear oil in trans and rearend were replaced. The truck has an electric fan on it, and a very large/thick radiator. The truck drives nicely, and I get a bunch of thumbs up every where I go- which is odd to me. It's primer gray. Evidently the rat rod look is still in.

Nice looking truck. Clean looking. I snickered at the "John-Boy" reference. I was backing mine out of the driveway one day when a friend of mine was jogging by. I stopped to chat and she referred to me as "John Boy" because of the truck.
Hope you keep the six, I think the sixers are a fraternity of sorts that seems everyone wants to leave for the v-8 gang (: Personally, I like the engine.

I am also called John Boy every now and then, and I am now 65 Maybe my name has something to do with it. Or the fact that I like my Big Boy Toys.

Today was full of surprises. Don't you love 'em?

My friend (the mechanic from church) and I dug into the cooling systrm on the truck. The radiator is much larger than stock, so finding hoses today was a treat. We matched a few up and it will be fine. There was no thermostat in the truck. The mounting bracket for the a/c compressor was installed by Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles. The electric fan was held on by bailing wire.

I swapped out the fuel lines and vacuum lines / PCV valve. The radiator and cooling fan will get finished later tonight. Oh ya, an automatically switch for the fan that is controlled by temperature. To be continued...

I was able to sell off the Enkei rims. New lower radiator brackets were fabbed up, and everything was put back together with new hoses and belts. The thermostat housing was leaking, turns out the bolt hole was stripped. A helicoil was added and I picked up a new thermostat housing and it will be reassembled tomorrow. It's been a week since I've driven the truck and I'm going through withdrawals...

Just a quick update: I drove the truck for the 1st time in a week. It felt good! I'm very happy. It is running STRONG! The emergency brake now works, the electric fan now works on a thermostat with a manual switch backup. All the hoses and belts are changed. The radiator is solidly mounted. A/C bracket is repaired. The exhaust is welded up and has new hangers. The wiring under the hood is in a loom protector.

I also found that a baseball fits in the hole cut for an aux tank! 8^D

I originally wanted to get it painted ASAP, but I am getting the safety items done first. I'm almost done with those. I think I'll get new door/window rubber next. That should be $300-$400 I bet. Or, an distributor without points. After that, I'm really thinking of getting a 4bbl intake and carb, and EFI exhaust manifold with new exhaust. Seeing how I don't need the manifolds and carb, paint may creep in before those.

I went ahead and purchased a Dorman set of efi manifolds, painted them with VHT (have not cured them yet) and I am no where near needing them. Wished I had spent the money on a points eliminator kit of some sort. Sometimes we spend money without paying attention to our priorities (:

I replaced the shocks today. The old ones were shot! I also decided I will put a Duraspark II distributor combined with an HEI ignition Module hooked up as described in the Dirt Cheap Ignition thread http://www.carbdford.com/tech/HEI/hei.htm.

I got the reman Duraspark II distributor and the HEI 4 prong module. I ordered the A/C Delco module heat sink (Manufacturer's Part Number: 10474610) and will pick up some heat sink paste from Radio Shack. The plans are to install the new electronic ignition on Tues. I will also run an Accel coil my friend has laying in his shop. I have to research some more, but I anticipate I'll need to re-gap my copper spark plugs.
