I had seen this F100 sitting in a vacant lot for many many years. Then one day it was gone and was just down the street in another vacant lot. This time it had a for sale sign on it and I had to have it. My dad and I are restoring our familys '69 Bronco and I needed a proper tow vehicle.
Original paint, Y code 352, original radio(love original radios) the owner and I came to an agreement and it was mine. Now I asked about back fees and was assured it had none. No title but for $400 bucks I figured I take a chance and he's a good neighbor so roll of the dice. Called DMV and was told $850 back fees. Had them mail me certification of non operation papers as it's been sitting for the past 10 years and walked out of the DMV for $50 total.
I was told it would start right up but no battery or fuel or brakes so towed it back to my lot and hoped for the best. Sure enough fired right up and idled like a champ. Bled the brakes and took it for a spin around the block. Needs lots of electrical work. Typical brake lights, turn signals, headlights not working. But the engine and the tranny work well.
Plans are to get everything working. Repair dents and dings and blend in fresh old looking paint over repair areas to match the rest of the truck. I'm going to keep every inch of the original paint that I can no matter how faded it is.
