I sent my original 1967 Philco Ford AM radio to Tayman Electrical in Florida. My brother also used them and the did the same... We both converted our old original AM radios to AM / FM Stereo radio. Since you'll hear more music on FM, most likely.
If you want your bump to look bone stock original but still get AM & FM as a bonus go to their website & check them out.

When we pulled out our old Ford original radios, we replaced the single voice coil front speaker with a double voice coil speaker for both the right and left channels of FM stereo. Works great.
B T W: I noticed that Gary is retrofitting original car & truck clocks also. He also does radio repairs.
If you have any questions call Gary Tayman ...
IMHO - Tayman does quality work at a reasonable price - both of our radios are still working well after three years.
Peace,
Stan

Re: Radio repair or upgrade
Sure, I can take a pix tomorrow. The face is identical - other than the tuner dial now lights up solid state IIRC - the bulb was burned out for about the last two years it was still playing AM in the truck. About the last two months, the AM just squealed so bad, it was better left OFF.
Tayman retrofits the entire receiver with Integrated Circuits, etc. for an AM / FM stereo receiver. All the original buttons will work. He's an electronic good guy!!

Re: Radio repair or upgrade
I highly recommend following the instruction booklet for installation. Tayman sure takes the questions out of "how to?"
The very first time, It will power up in FM mode. To switch to AM turn it off and back on.
To switch back to FM turn it off and wait 5 seconds before turning it back on. It switches back and forth just fine. If you have pushbuttons for station pre-sets, I don't, they will operate either your selected FM or the selected AM. not both...
I usually just leave it on FM and it stays there when I shut off the engine normally.

I just talked to him and he said either web address will get you to his radio / car clock business.

Re: Radio repair or upgrade
thanks i was wondering how the fm part worked. whether he put in a new dial or what he did. i guess when you go to fm you have to know about where to tune it into. to get the right station you want.
