95 Speedometer

Post by cloudwalker »

I am having problems with my speedometer on my '95 mustang. I have removed it from the trans- and inspected it, and it appears that it is in good condition. Lubricated it, etc. Would it be associated with a sensor that needs fixing or would the speedometer cable need to be replaced? Thanks for looking.

spin the inner cable and see if the dahs speedometer turns. if it does then the broken part is in the trans. unless the inner cable is a electronicly controled deal. are there any sensors in or on the speedo cable? if so they might be able to be tested at the parts store.

Thanks for the quick reply fordman. As I was inspecting the cable, I had another helper watch the speedometer as I tinkered with it. When I re-lubed it and reassembled it, it started working the way it was supposed to.
