1967 F100

Post by FlFirefighter63 »

Dia Diaobh a Cairde ! (Studying Irish so I practice every chance I get :D )

Greetings and salutations from Jacksonville Fl. I recently took possession of a 1967 F100 short bed that runs but is in desperate need of some TLC to make it truly road worthy. I'm hardly what can be described as a master mechanic but I am fairly competent with a tool or two and can read, and comprehend, most shop manuals with ease. Unfortunately those manuals rarely reveal the "trade secrets" that seperate the accomplished technician from the average shade tree mechanic. This 67 has definitely been a learning experience for me. Add to that the fact that it came with an engine and transmission made over a decade later, you can see where I get a little confused at times. I still to this day haven't positively identified what type of transmission I have  .
After spending many an hour perusing the net for parts and information, I noticed this site consistantly popping up in my "Google" searches so I figured I'd sign on as a member and make better use of the source of info.
I'm sure in the days to follow you'll me posting more often. Most likely in the form of the stupid questions commensurate with a rookie mechanic.

Sorry for the absence of pics guys. Presently, I don't have a computer of my own that I can readily download stuff on (using computer at work). When it comes to modern technology, I'm still living in the dark ages. Much to the consternation of friends and relatives, I'm one of those rare hold outs that refuse to be seduced by the wonder of cell phones, I-phones, lap tops, GPS's, Kindle readers and other electronic marvels of the 21st century. I still have a rotary dial phone that requires a wire to be plugged in the wall, the answering machine still uses one of those little cassette tapes, I still use fold out maps and atlas' to navigate and I prefer hard bound books with real paper pages :D

My 67 isn't exactly the most stunning example of classic automotive engineering right now so I'm not sure you all would be very impressed. But, in the interest of fair play I will try to get some pics posted here in the near future.

Thanks for the warm welcome despite being "pictureless", Pat

welcome to the site pat. where is reverse in the shift pattern? or, if it is an auto, how many bolts in the transmission pan. that should lead us in the right direction of finding out what trans you have.
