Pressure Washing
Whats the consensus? is it ok to pressure wash a motor while it is running with cold water? or do you risk cracking the block?

Re: Pressure Washing
If you just started it, i can't see where it'd be much of an issue. If you drive it a couple of hundred miles & decide to give it a bath, it might not end well.

Re: Pressure Washing
It should be fine as long as it doesn't have aluminum heads or block.
It shouldn't hurt old school engines at all but you might want to cover the distributor with a Wal Mart plastic sack.
And instead of cold water, find a good car wash that heats up the water and it will clean even better.

Re: Pressure Washing
i go to the car wash and do it. i also put a rag inside of the dist cap and put it back on while i wash it. take a can of wd40 with you incase the rag got wet. you can remove the rag and spray the inside of the dist cap to disipate the water.

Re: Pressure Washing
I could almost swear I killed my coil by pressure washing my engine while it was running. I had a baggie over the dist. and was mainly hitting the front and bottom of the motor.

If you wash it with hot water than it shouldn't be an issue. Hot water works better anyway.
