engine priming

what is the best wat to prime an engine that has sit for a while?
1971 Sport Custom SWB: 360/C6 3.00
1965 Ford Falcon 4Dr: Inline 170 3sp

what about for the oil system?

Pull the plugs ,shoot some oil or atf in the cylinders then spin it over befor you put in the plugs .That should prime the cab and lube the motor, then try starting it.

well it depends how involved you want to be, you can take the distributor out and spin the oil pump with a drill, or you could unplug the coil wire and crank for about 10 seconds

I would pull the distributor and use a drill to spin the gear. then once you have it started run some ATF in it for a while then drop all the oil.
