That was why I went to the Accel Dual point. That dizzy was not that good when new. No vacuum advance on the street will hurt midrange cruise and mileage.

Plus it is in Mallory's Obsolete list with custom points, rotor and cap. http://go.mrgasket.com/newproducts/CAT_PDF/74087G.PDF

thanks for bad new on its parts being discontinued but I do like its cap. my dad bought it new for a 70s ltd with a 390ho and 4.11 rear and he did not wont to rob that of any more gas, so he took it off and has sat since. so I guess I might invest in a points kit like the mallory unilite I put on my dads 66 cadillac

Yeah dual points and no vacuum advance is a pain on a street motor. I use an Accel Points Eliminator kit on my trucks.

new points came in today for it and have installed it. I like how my truck runs with this compared to my old dizzy, now I just need to fight my last 5 plugs out so I can replace them

If they are stuck soak them with rust busting chems. We had a wrecker at a Ford Dealer with a 292 that had 7 of 8 plugs frozen and someone tried to get them out and broke 5 of them without ever getting them out. So we went from a 63 F350 to a 76 F350 the next day.
