Bed rail protection
Faithful Old Road Dog's post on diamond plate tailgate protection reminded me I've been looking for diamond plate bed rail tops. Does anyone make anything that fits our trucks, diamond plate or not? If there's a 73-79 version, how well would it fit, anyone know? Not sure if I want to do it yet, but I have been thinking about.

re: Bed rail protection
I was looking through the Summit Racing Catalog and called about the Deflecta-Shield diamond plate stuff. The guy said he only shows applications from '83 and up on the rail caps. He gave me Deflecta-Shield's number, 1 800 334 4447. I plan to call if I get a chance tomorrow. I didn't plan on getting any. But since I use my truck for work, l get knuckleheads scraping things over the bed rails. My paint job ain't perfect, but I just spent 3 days rubbing out scratches, polishing and waxing my truck. It looks a lot better. Now if I can only keep that up.
BTW the price shown in the catalog is $69.95. That's the one with the stake holes. The ones with no stake holes are $65.95.
Hopefully, they'll have the full tailgate protector. If not, I'll stop by some sheet metal shop and hope it costs no more than $70 to cut and bend a piece to fit.

re: Bed rail protection
If I ever decided for sure I wanted them, I figured about stopping by one of these truck accesory places and seeing if they have something that would fit. My thinking was maybe they could grab a few different ones and see if one just happened to line up.
