For the last time, the box is off of the truck! Now I can sand the rear of the cab and the front of the box now that they are exposed. I'm essentially done with doing filler on the box except for two or three spots that need some attention. I think I'm finally approaching the homestretch!

Want to see some color on it bad. All that sanding it should lay pretty. Still old school here using supermotors.org for hosting, was there when it was super ford.

I just straight upload my pics, no worries with them getting lost.

Now for the truck, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Nice work, it is going to look great.

Looks pretty rad! I also can't wait to see some color. Are you going to paint the whole thing blue? Or two tone it? You gonna paint the frame quick with the bed off too? I don't know how you have time for all your project trucks :thup:

The wait is really killing me, but it will pay off in the end. I suppose... :lol:

This one is going to be solid blue, harbor blue to be exact. The frame is painted, it's just really dirty in those pictures. I don't think I have the time or money for all of my projects, but somehow I still manage. :help:
I sanded the majority of the rear of the cab after work, but I left the more involved areas that need to be hand sanded for tomorrow.

My weatherstripping came via Fedex today! :) I ordered it through Macs, and it looks to be of good quality. I'm happy, although my wallet says otherwise...

I'm also contemplating which tires I'm going to run on it. I want a 265/75/16 which is the size that I have on the truck now. I really like BFG all terrains, and I am seriously considering putting them on, but I want to see what else I can get at a better price. I might consider Goodyear Wranglers, or possibly Hankooks.

These came into the tire shop today and really got my gears turning...

I have done very well buying used tires on Craigslist. You can find tire deals.

All I ever run are used tires. Throwing a couple on my car this morning, and the bump has never seen a new tire as long as I've owned it. I check out the tire shops and wrecking yards too - it's amazing what you find. Just pulled a practically new 31/10.5x15 spare from under an SUV at the boneyard for twenty bucks.

I've looked and I haven't been able to find the tires I want. I like all terrains. I know it's a two wheel drive, but I still think a truck needs a somewhat aggressive tire. I feel like after the paint job, a set of new tires will really add to it. Since I work at a tire shop I I don't have the cost of mounting and balancing, just the tires outright.

A little report on the truck. Yesterday I got the whole inside of the box sandblasted, which means the bed is ready for primer now. The cab is also ready for primer after I filled the last spot today. So, essentially the whole truck is ready for primer and paint, which will start to take place next weekend. :D

I also decided that now was the perfect time to ditch the dash pad! The pad was so cracked that I couldn't run it in the truck after it was finished, and I couldn't see spending the money on a new one.

After sanding down the excess JB weld. That's how I filled everything. A metal backer and JB weld filled the holes. Then I used body filler on what the JB weld didn't fill from the top.

I really like how it turned out, and I think it gives the interior more of a retro look.

I was actually looking at some JB weld I had in the garage today. Said its a 1:1 ratio and has steel in it or hardens to where its workable or able to sand on. Can I use an aluminum backing u think? I was wondering about this when I was looking at it today. thanks for the post and idea of how to fill holes and such!
Question. Are u gonna leave the dash metal and painted? Im assuming so since ur not replacing the dash pad.

I don't have any experience using JB weld with aluminum, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I think it says on the package what it'll bond to. And yes, I am leaving the dash bare other than paint. I think it gives it more of a 50's look. 8)
