Installing a rear roll pan without welding?

Post by timachone »

Hey guys,

I have been playing around with the thoughts of Installing a rear roll pan because of our small garage to gain some important inches and there is no need for the heavy rear step bumper. If we load something I would open the tailgate anyway.

So have anybody a recommendation to a rear roll pan which could be bolted up? I don't want to weld it to the body and fill the side gaps making it almost reversible.

Did anybody this conversion the same way?

Thanks,

Tim

Cant find it right now but I have seen at least two folks take the top of another tailgate, turn it upside down and one welded it to the bed. The other guy, which thought was better, welded brackets to that piece and bolted it on to the frame like a bumper. The separation on the sides looked good, has that tailgate side gap go all the way down and the top of the tailgate turned upside down made the back look cool. Having that same design top and bottom is really neat, aw, found it

for the license plate you could this.

I have been tossing around this idea also, or, do a non factory rear bumper.

The top of the bed side also makes a good roll pan if you have a scrap bed.

Thanks, guys, for your ideas

They are both great!

Now to find a donor bed or a tailgate is the most difficult here... We have only complete trucks to sell most of the time

But I will keep an eye!

The solutions are looking good and oem!

Thank you :fr:
