Also washed it, the dust was piling up. I live in the desert on a dirt road.

Replaced the missing rod between the seat rails with a bicycle brake cable. This gives me needed clearance under the seat. I just added a couple brackets at the rails.

It's Alive! Engine was started today sounds great. Also got front end alignment, replaced master cylinder & PS gear box. One of the calipers was sucking air. Will get that replaced and hopefully tomorrow will get the exhaust put on, and drive it home!!

Congratulations!! It's a big milestone when you are able to fire the motor for the first time and break her in. Keep up the nice work on your build!

Cool write up on the old truck. I really like the cup holder and spare tire mount ideas, need something for mine.

Finally got the tailgate from the Painter and got it installed, got the air-box mounted & connected. Also figured out why my 3G alternator wasn't working the Green (I) wire came out of the connector a bit & was not making contact at the alternator.

Got the RetroSound Model two installed, as well as the center AC vents. Drove it to get emissions tested & back with no issues, and it passed. Hopefully get it registered this week.

Glad you were able to get her out on the road and that you had no problems! I like the radio you installed. It has the right look to go along with the build.

Got the newer style F-150 mirrors installed, windows tinted (a must in AZ), bed liner installed, bed brace I built from 1/4" angle so that the quads, dirt bikes don't beat up the front of the bed and has u-bolts for tie down anchors.

It's got AC now! Just in time as it is already hot here. Getting closer to the big reveal. The to do list is getting shorter.

Re: Dad's new 72
It has been a while since I posted last. A while back my brother & nephew came over and got the rest of the trim on & front bumper. We removed the bed so I could deal with an inaccurate gas gauge/sender unit. Both 73-10 ohm scale, sending unit is linear. The gas gauge of course is not. After all lot of trial and error and some internet searching I found the Dakota Digital 1967- 72 Ford Pickup VHX Instruments. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/ ... prd898.htm
I called and they had the one I wanted on the shelf, black with white lighting. I got it mostly installed this weekend. I wish I would have known about this a year ago when I was doing most of the wiring but I got it wired in about a day. It is really cool, has clock, compass, outside air temp, check engine light, real values on the gauges ( not just the L-H), Tachometer, warning set points for most of the values. But the real reason it has a custom setting for the fuel sending unit. It was easy to setup and now the fuel gauge is accurate. The tank is a little small at 16 gallons, so I really needed the gauge to be accurate. Going to get the bed back on this week, and back to the get it done list.

Re: Dad's new 72
My Brother & Brother in law helped last weekend on getting the last few items on the list done. Checkout the NOS hubcaps I found. Perfect look for my Dad.
Planning on surprising Dad next weekend at the local Saturday night car show. I have been driving it around a bit to make sure all the bugs are worked out. It is fun to drive, the Bluetooth works good in the Retrosound model two.You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Dad's new 72
Craigerf100, I do like them. They make the truck feel like a newer vehicle instead of an old farm truck.
