1972 F100 4WD Front Axle Replacement

Post by Cpoyner71 »

Need help. Looking at replacing and upgrading my front end. Would like to find a front axle that is a bit newer that has disc brakes, etc. I was reading a Dana 60 HP from a 78/9 f150?? Not a mechanic but want to make sure I'm looking for something compatible. Any help would be appreciated.

"76-79 f150 has disc brakes and will bolt in , you will also need the diagonal tracking bar.
"78-79 has a better tierod set up.

F100/150 had a high pinion Dana 44. Dana 60s came in 3/4 - 1ton and are not a bolt in

1/2 ton has coil springs and 3/4 has leaf springs.
