Thanks Bob! That sucks man...I really hustled and got at least the inside done so I could still work on the interior this winter. It's been REAL cold this last week so I got it just in time. No more spraying until spring though.SATURN5 wrote:Looking good! Mines sitting for winter glaring at me for not getting it in epoxy before winter hit...

Got the rest of my birthday and Xmas presents! NEW body hardware, the rest of my brake lines, tube nuts, line clamps, and spring wrap...everything in stainless. Also, received my new halogens with the 'Ford' script and NO alignment pins.

Happy Birthday, Patrick! Congratulations! Did that body hardware come as a kit or did you have to order each individual piece separately? And which/where prop valve did you order? Thanks!

Re: 1970 F100 Project
Thanks Randy (birthday is officially on the 16th )! I got the hardware from Auto Fastco, http://www.autofastco.net/page/page/7775960.htm. They have most items in bags of 25 or 50. I got (75) 5/16 body bolts, (50) 5/16" speed nuts, and (25) each of #14 speed nuts and screws for the C6 hump cover. I only needed 11 but they were only like $4 and $6 or something like that for the minimum 25 count. There are some 3/8" bolts on my '70 but not many so I'll simply tumble them to clean 'em up and run a tap through any welded or caged square nuts. I also plan on using a dab of anti-seize on all the fasteners...we all know how difficult some of these bolts come out when we're harvesting parts from wrecking yards or performing the tear down! All told, I spent roughly $46 for all of it which is a deal after I priced just a portion of this stuff at a hardware store.sargentrs wrote: Happy Birthday, Patrick! Congratulations! The prop. valve came from inlinetube.com (as well as the rest of the line, tube nuts, and spring wrap). Nobody reproduces the exact valve from cast iron but this one is the exact configuration and the bolt spacing is the same so it bolts right in where the '73-'79 ones do. It was 85 bucks and I've since found them elsewhere for around $65 but I don't recall where. Oh well. The 3/8"x3/16" line clamps (for brake and fuel lines from the rear of truck) are from Speedway's ebay store and the single 3/16" clamps are from a random ebay seller (8 pcs. for $4.99 I think?).
BTW, I ended up following your lead and got 2 rolls of peel 'n seal...I got 2 rolls of ez-cool too so with this and all of the above stuff, I'll have several fun winter projects to do while waiting for spring to shoot more color!

Thanks for the info! I'm bookmarking for future purchase. I'm pretty much down for the winter, too, and prepping/painting small parts in my paint booth to get ready for a spring installation.

Re: 1970 F100 Project
I already asked a question about your fuel tank relocation to which you gave me an awesome reply with links to actually buy what I needed. I have another "?" though. Do you have to add another fuel pump or upgrade the existing one. I'm in the process of just buying parts and stacking them in the garage for the moment and would like to make sure I get everything need. Thanks and your truck is looking great too.

Re: 1970 F100 Project
Thanks for the compliments! As far as the fuel pump goes, you can still use just the stock mechanical pump mounted on the engine but I have chosen to remove mine and use a block off plate to cover the hole on my 390 build. In its place, I'm using a Holley 'Red' electric pump mounted immediately outside the Mustang tank (electric pumps like to 'push' fuel rather than pull it).damn_fool wrote:I already asked a question about your fuel tank relocation to which you gave me an awesome reply with links to actually buy what I needed. I decided to go with a new electric pump that is unaffected by gasoline containing ethanol (pump uses a spinning vane). I've gone through 2 stock fuel pumps in my '69 due to what I believe is the ethanol destroying the rubber diaphragm. It would start running terribly, I would throw another $25 stock pump on and within 6-9 months, it would start running rough again and be starving for fuel. Rinse and repeat...

Re: 1970 F100 Project
I rolled out the sound deadener and insulation last weekend (still need to do the C6 hump). I don't have the new carpet and firewall cover fastened down yet but I was dying to see what it looked like in the truck. I've decided to shorten an ididit tilt, no key switch column I had lying around and ordered my Mark 40 steering wheel (1940 Ford replica by Lecarra) with a 'V8' logo horn button. I think it's going to look awesome with my dash cluster in the background!

Re: 1970 F100 Project
Thanks! The seat I have is the original that has been reupholstered within the last 5-10 years (a couple owners ago)...I'm guessing of course but the seat is in fantastic shape but it is sort of plain. It's also green but not a shade of green that really goes with my paint so for now, I'm going to use some vinyl dye and recolor it black. I will separate the seat back and the bottom from the rest and clean/repaint the track before I reinstall it too.damn_fool wrote:Looks very good. Eventually, I'd like to get it redone in black leather with bucket style stitched inserts. I've thought about a brushed or suede texture for the inserts or maybe some cloth inserts along with maybe some colored stitching too (green? red? silver?). Whatever I decide, the seat is very nice now and will do until I make up my mind as far as material and design.
