Your truck turned out real nice! I'm sure your trip will go just fine. It looks like you did your homework. I was hoping to get a little more info from you about your suspension and what you did. I like how your truck sits and I would like to get mine to sit about the same. Are the tires 33"? Is there a company you recomend for springs? Sorry for all the dumb questions.

Great work! Btw, which brake booster did you get? I'll be putting in power disc brakes and still haven't nailed that down yet. Thanks!

Maiden voyage went well but ended in the rain. Had to unload the truck, so I skipped the final gas up, but it looks like 10+MPG average with 11.6 if I stayed at 55, 9.35MPG if I did 70-75, and the last tank I did my best to stay at advertised speed limit (55-65 depending on work zones). I will gas up tomorrrow and get the real calcs done right... ;)

MPG is the downside of these truck... aerodynamics of a brick, and a highboy is just an elevated brick...

The 450CFM 4V carb on the 360 is EXCELLENT! Throttle response is dead on - no bog, no lurch, just smooth power all the way up and down... Carb P/N is D0PF-9510-U - Holley replacement for 302-428, so I hope that it would fit well and it does.

My GF followed me the 250+ miles and says the truck tracks well, looks good and saw no apparent issues. Of course she got 25+MPG... ;)

Popeye - PM me a list of your questions... That way I can spend time on what you want to know and not on what I think you want to know... ;)

Rear springs are factory.... disassembled and cleaned and reassembled...

Front springs are modified superduty... If you want a set contact Jim: http://bloodyknucklegarage.com Tell him Eric from PA told you to call.

Get the springs, front shocks and ubolts (If you are doing a 79 HP D60 get 1 jeep shock 'changer dammit' (technical term).... If you are using the factory axle I think you need 2)

Tires are P-metric, and it is raining, so I won't tell you the size tonight... :D

I also used a 79 HP D60, so the tube diameter difference is slight, but there... (height mod)

The SD springs will relocated the axle about 1.25 inches back....

Let me know the rest of your questions!

sargentrs - As for the brake booster, I got it from Advance Auto... it was a Cardone reman - I ordered whatever part number RobRoy used .. ;) MC is from a 79 F350 with D60 - 2 Piston calipers.
It looks like I ened up with a dent unit as the pedal is lower and I had to make a special stop for the brake light switch. Not sure where on here I read about that, but someone else did a writeup and noted the same thing. I don't want to take credit for other people's work.. ;) The bellows that came with the reman booster didn't work, so I had to use the original.

Wow, that turned into such a sexy beast! And congrats on finding "the unicorn" of front axles, haha!
