drop a plumbob to the center of the axle mark the frame where the string goes down the frame. then put your springs on the axle center the plumbob and there you go. Just make shure the frame is sitting level whin doing this.

Hey, I just saw your post about the dash pad removal. I did this before and like it. I dug the grills out of the old pad and installed them in the defroster duct opening. It worked slick an was free. They are caked with poly foam or whatever it is but once you clean them off and paint them, they're ready to install with a couple of screws each.

I remember your grills. I was thinking about trying to get mine from the old dash pad but haven't messed with it yet.mybros71 wrote:Hey, I just saw your post about the dash pad removal. Re: '70 Crew Cab
I removed all the air conditioning related equipment last night. I was assigned yard duty at work. Basically I had to sit all night at the "drop yard" all night starting at 6:30 p.m. and watch the trucks and ask everyone who came or went to sign in. Not a single person arrived or left. It was very slow so I decided to do a little work on the truck. So I removed what I believe to be the condenser, the copper tubing and the compressor. It looks better without all that junk. Now I wish I had a smaller bracket for the power steering pump instead of that big one for the a/c compressor and power steering.

I bet that looks a lot better. I was planning on doing that myself eventually

I think I got a great deal on this old truck. It runs really good! It's smooth at 80 on the interstate! It has plenty of power as well.FormerMarine1981 wrote:I bet that looks a lot better. I was planning on doing that myself eventually
Once I get the choke (manual) fixed, the exhaust manifold leak fixed, new power steering belt(and tightened) and maybe a new windshield she'll be even better.
