I have loads of Craftsman as well. How do you feel about a lot of the Craftsman manufacturing moving overseas?

Not to good about that. That was on reason why I bought craftsman tools myself. Good product, good price and made in the states. Used to be years ago they had another brand made by sears which you knew automatically was made overseas. Now not only them but others are blending the products for profit like we would not know. That is like Carhart with their work jackets are made hear and over seas. Redwing boots which I wear, some are now made overseas with the tag on it. Before if it was made overseas it was the worx brand. I love it at the store they say the reason why they are phasing out the name was people were getting confused by the two different brands. To me it is being able to charge a premium price while delivering a product of lesser quality. Not to ramble but the dilution of a product long known for quality is a disaster in the making.

I can't say I didn't see it coming, but it seems Sears/Craftsman has really been ramping it up this last year or so. Electronics is somewhat understandable having it done overseas, but hard tools like wrenches, sockets and ratchets? Ridiculous.

If they would just spin off and have a Craftsman ONLY store, maybe appliances as well they would so a lot better. But having the electronics, clothes and house knick-knacks is what is really bringing Sears and KMart for that matter down.

Same thing going on with Snap-On. A lot of their tools do not even say MADE IN USA. Why? So they can be sneaky about where it comes from.

I too have mostly SK tools but mine I got back in 1999. We had a local Mac dealer do a raffle for a Macsimizer tool box and I bought 1 ticket for $20. I kept telling him to just drop off my box but he said he wanted to wait until the drawing :D One day he came in and asked where I wanted my tool box that I won  8) . We unloaded it and it was pertty. But I didn't have a lot of hand tools at the time, some Craftsman's that would fit in your typical bench top tool box. Kept the Mac box for about 3 or 4 months and we then had a guy that had been a Mac dealer at one time start up his on tool truck business selling mostly SK. I talked to him about trading my box for a full set of hand tools and a smaller less expensive roll around tool chest. All in all I traded for full sets of 1/4 and 3/8 in standard and metric sockets and ratchets, full set of wrenches in standard and metric, screw driver set, allen sockets standard and metric, files, chisels, Fluke meter and other tools I can't remember right now. Would have loved to kept the Macsimizer with all of the tools I got from it but...

I love old tools too. I have some old wooden handle claw hammers that used to belong to my grandfather who passed away before I was born, and an old pipe wrench that was also his. I have a 1/2"drive diamond era S-K breaker bar that I swear by. It even has a 1/2" hole in the end of it's handle so it can be used as an extension. Very handy. I traded a fishing rod and reel to a buddy of mine for it. The newer wrenches and sockets that I have purchased for myself are mostly Mastercraft and have a no questions asked lifetime warranty. I also have some Gray, Westward and Craftsman wrenches & sockets as well as some Mastercraft and Fuller screwdrivers. :)

I've been noticing that a lot of tools these days don't even have country of origin on them . They just say "Imported by whatever corporation."
