Torque converter studs

Are the torque converter studs replaced when it gets rebuilt??

Would I make the converter 'non-rebuildable' if I cut two of them off?

I only ask because I'm working on getting an engine un-stuck and since I couldn't turn the crank, I couldn't get at two of the nuts holding the torque converter to the flexplate so I simply pulled the transmision off leaving it attached. I tried a wrench and I can get it on but not square enough to actually loosen the nuts. The wrench keeps twisting off as I turn it. Cutting them may be my only option unless I just leave it until (IF) I get the crank to turn......

I wouldn't be that concerned with the convertor at all. I paid just over $120.00 for my rebuilt one for my C-6, (without having to provide a core-mail order). I'd be more concerned with the shape of the engine if it won't turn over easily. Try to spray the cylinders down with MMO / let it sit for a few days / then work it back and forth.

To answer you question : if the converter is a BIG DOLLAR converter the studs CAN be replaced during the rebuild process, but a Basket said above, you can get a cheap converter for $150.00. So unless your unit is a big $$$$ item........follow his advice.....Donnie
