I was cruising on the interstate when i heard a little whine and thought it was the radio. Then something let go in the transmission. A gear? A bearing? I don't know. I managed to slam down the clutch and coast over to the exit ramp. Everything looks fine but now I can't shift into any gears but one and the truck won't really move in that gear.
I can't afford to get her fixed at the moment. I did have her towed to the shop though. It's a 240 six cylinder with a three speed manual transmission.

Re: transmission went out on the ranger today
3 speeds are cheap.... Contact your local early bronco club and I bet you can get one almost for free... they consider them doorstops..
Your club is Lonestar Early Bronco (http://www.lonestar-ebc.com) You may have the join the mailing list to find one, but that is free...
Good luck!
