Has their ever been front power disk brakes offered on a 67-72 f250 4x4?
I know you can get them on a dentside, my 76 has them, but what about a 67-72??
I'm doing a Dana 60 front swap and I want to know what booster and master cyl I should use
Can I use parts from a 79 if I use the 79 proportioning valve? If so can I use the highboys pushrod?
My truck currently has power drums.
Any help would be great guys, thanks

Re: Highboys with disk brakes??
If you can get all the brake parts from the 79 you'll have most of what you need. You'll want to keep your power booster and bolt the disc brake master to it.
The 79 lines won't bolt right onto the highboy frame, but 76-77.5 lines will if you find one of those year trucks to rob parts from otherwise you'll just need to rebend/flare your old lines or make new ones to route correctly on the old style highboy frame.
For the most part, the ford disc brake proportioning valves are real similiar through the late 80's. I try to pick a proportioning valve from a truck that has the same size front calipers and rear wheel cylinders/shoe sizes I'll be running.
If you get it all together, everything's working right, but the braking bias front-rear isn't exactly spot on for your liking you can tune the bias by using larger or smaller bore wheel cylinders in the rear brakes. Larger rear cylinders give more rear bias, smaller gives less.

Re: Highboys with disk brakes??
Thanks Dustin! I'm rapping up my 6bt swap and at the same time I installed my disk brake Dana 60 and power steering.
The only trouble I have right now is I bought a new master for a 79 f350 and it don't fit my 72 drum brake booster.
Should I have gotten one for a f250? Would that have fit? I didn't think there would have been a difference externally from 350 to 250 but maybe there is. Do you know?

Re: Highboys with disk brakes??
I thought the master cylinders interchanged, maybe not then. When I first put a 60 under my '70 I had a 76 F-250 4x4 parts truck and *I think* I was able to get everything I needed for power disc brakes from that truck, but that was 10 years ago. I know all the brake lines and prop valve fit right on and I used the brackets on the frame that holds the ends of the front brake hoses because the brackets for drum brake hoses were very different.
There always plan B......... HYDROBOOST! Careful though, switch one rig over to hydroboost and then the other stuff you own will need it too.

Re: Highboys with disk brakes??
so your dentside booster bolted up to the bumpside without any mods? I was concerned about the rod length because of the body style and dash board change. If they interchange I would just order myself a new booster and master cyl assembly like I did for my 76 highboy.
do you know anything about a dual diaphram booster from an f 350? I read somewhere that that might work and give me better braking.
thanks for all your help and input!!
I should post some pics of my progress so far.....maybe soon!!!

Re: Highboys with disk brakes??
I dunno on the boosters/master mix and match for sure. I remember something about stick and auto being different in the dentside years, but other than that I remember dentside stick booster bolting right into a bump.
I'd like to see some pics. I'm always curious to see how people tackle the engine crossmember in a 6BT/highboy.
