muffler is in. it's quieter than the glasspacks but my Franken-pipes don't help performance at all. they got from 1.75 to 2.5 to 2.25 . the muffler also sits sideways and rubs the cab. i'll go to a muffler shop to get the manifold pipes made and it should improve flow. Here are the pictures of my thrush 17637 dual inlet, dual outlet welded muffler.
The chambers are not separated.
measures 23x9x4.5 i think. weighs a good bit also. took a 400 miles trip to pigeon forge Saturday and the noise was almost bearable . only problem i had on the whole trip was running out of gas (no gas gauge).

Looks like a pretty well built muffler. Especialy for thrush.

i am impressed considering it was $34 with tax at advance auto. my friend bought a 2.5" single in, single out for his blazer and it made a world of differnence in the sound.

got the window fuzzies all in now. the bottom pieces were hiding behind a shelf. sneaky buggers! patched up a few rust spots on the hood. now i need an opinion. I think the truck sits about 2 inches too high in the back. since my truck will never see 1000 pounds in the back, i was thinking about pulling out the inch thick overload spring and a leaf that was added in there by the previous owner that really doesn't help anyway. any objections? i'm going to drop the front about an inch to fix some camber problems and i think it would look ok.

I put on this muffler;
Walker Dynamax Super Turbo, #17699, 2 1/2 in, 2 1/2 out
on the recommendation of someone on the forum. I did it after I had put on my efi exhaust manifolds, and needed a new downpipe anyway. I didnt need any backpressure which would rob power, wanted it quiet as possible, and didnt want an annoying sound. Got to say Ive been happy with it, the sound is probably as good as you can get on a 300-six,
At idle or at low speed sounds like a small V8, at cruise like at 65 it sounds like, .... a Ford Six. But not opressively loud. I think when I get around to adding some sound deadener pads, carpet, and new door seals, it will be ok. Still pretty loud right now.

had my alternator die and the clutch rod that goes through the floor snapped all in the same night . thankfully the alternator was only $40.

i would die if i had a flairside crew i love my 6 but the 3 speed is a bit of a pain. doesn't work well with the 300's narrow power range. if it didn't require a hole in the floor i would love a 5 speed. Other than wishing, i finally got around to fixing the front suspension. took about an inch out of the front coils to get rid of some bad positive camber, along with new brake adjusters and found a broken brake line . put a new one on and it drives better. it can actually corner instead of screech tires and roll. got my boards cut about a foot long for the bed in preparation for planing as soon as my dad gets a new chain for the big planer. threw them in the back (all 200 pounds, they're not the right thickness) and rode around. i definitely need to lower the back. the driveline shakes less and everything seems to work smoother. driveshaft angle must be off. here's the current front end stance. it's hard to tell but it sits 1-1 1/2 inches lower than it did.

got the back lowered and changed out the drive shaft. the one i swapped in seems to have less slack but i only have 5 miles on it so far. also changed out the pcv valve that was faulty and took out the carb spacer. all in all it's running better but the cold is making a 2 minute warm up necessary. here is how she sits "lowered"

i'm pleased with it. The truck is still acting up and i think i have another bad pcv valve. hmmm.... I aslo swapped the seat out with a covered bench that came with my parts truck. It doesn't look that much better but it's not falling apart. when you can feel the seat bottom out, it's time to get a new one. i took the oppertunity to scrub the floor and back wall. more to come soon(hopefully).
and i love your signature one_am. everytime i hit it i'm that much closer to torching it off. Since i lowered the truck it gets shorter people

Nice work sir, I am driving a daily driver myself, it kind of sucks to put new parts on a old truck without doing the whole resto, but it is worth it. I have a 67 bump and love driving it....
