new guy with pics of my truck
Hey everyone I am new here so I thought I would introduce myself. And my truck. It is a 71 1/2 ton 2wd Custom SWB 302 with a C4. The truck was bought brand new by my uncle and I have owned it and have been driving it for the last 7 years now. My Uncle stopped driving it after the timing chain went out on it after only 5 years. He pulled the motor and had a 240 in it when I found it. But the 240 in it never ran. So I pulled it back out and rebuilt the original 302 and put it back in. While the motor is original it is no longer stock. I could go into detailes but I am about to put the 302 from my mustang in it. It is a little hotter I also am about to do the disc brake swap up front and hopefully the power steering as well. I would like to drop the truck and inch or two as well, any advice on that???

Nice truck! Ask questions and post progress. I like your wheels.

Welcome to the site and forums...glad to have you aboard! From your pic it looks like the disc-brake parts you acquired are only the rotors and calipers, and that you cut the spindle to get those out. You DO realize that you NEED those spindles, right? The disc brake setup will not work on the stock drum-brake spindles.
Take a look at the following page:

Man, good eye Keith. I looked at his pics and didn't even pick up on that. Hope you find another set of spindles erikd428.

re: new guy with pics of my truck
no, no. I just cut I beam right at the spindles. The spindle is actually still intact. it just needs the old king pins pressed out. and I thought that would be easier in a place with a press rather than try to beat them off the truck. the spindles will fit the I beam on my truck wont they? thanks for the welcome and keeping an eye out on my brakes. Tell me if I am wrong about mounting them on the I beams that are already on the truck. thanks

Ah, OK. Yes, you should be OK then, the kingpin diameters are the same, as are the bumpstops between the two.
