This 1971 Ford
F100 Custom was advertised for sale in the local newspaper in
August 2007 as having less than 17,000 original miles and even
running the original tires! Even
though I couldn't afford the asking price, I got permission from
the seller to come by and take some pictures, just to document
this beautiful low-mileage truck.
The story I was
given was that this Calypso Coral beauty was purchased by an old man who rarely
drove it. He lived on a farm and kept the truck parked in a
lean-to with the back end facing out, which is why the white
tailgate lettering is faded out. The seller had approached the
old man several times over the years about selling the truck,
but was always turned down. However, the original owner had recently passed on,
and the truck was auctioned off at an estate sale.
I spent some
time taking lots of detail shots to be used for future reference
on my own restoration projects, and decided to share them here
as well. Each photo is saved in a low-res (800x600) version and
a hi-res (1600x1200) version. Click on the links under each
