starter cranks when key is on the "on" position

starter cranks when key is on the "on" position
My 71 F-100 starter cranks when the key is at the on position not the start position. the ignition switch is new. the starter is new. can anyone help?

Sure you don't have the start/ignition wires on the solenoid swapped?
