Factory Paint Type for 67 F100
What kind of paint was used at the factory on 67 F100s? Acrylic enamel? Laquer? Urethane? If I’m going to paint the truck and use the original color (Rangoon Red) should the same type paint be used? Or has paint improved enough in 50 years to justify using a better type paint? Thanks for any insight!

I'm not sure about new paints vs. old paints and which one is better, but I believe the paint used on our trucks was a single stage urethane paint. My original paint looks pretty good considering it has been on there for 47 years.

IMO, if you’re going whole-hog with a repaint, there’s no reason not to get the best paint you can afford. Single stage paint is nice and all, but paint technology has advanced by leaps and bounds since our trucks were made.

I used single stage Sikkens paint (New LIme) and have gotten many compliments on it.dstuart wrote:What kind of paint was used at the factory on 67 F100s? Acrylic enamel? Laquer? Urethane?
