Re: Heater blower resistor
Older thread but the vendors probably still have some.

For my A/C unit I bought one for 69-70 Torino and it was a perfect fit.

Re: Heater blower resistor
Thanks. I'll try calling them. Been looking on E Bay and everywhere else, no luck.

Re: Heater blower resistor
Called everyone on the list from 2009 forum response. None to be found. Part #C8TZ18591A Resistor.
I'm restoring a 71 F100 Ranger XLT. Took out the original A/C unit that took up half the space on the floor and replaced it with a salvaged heater box with no A/C. Been buying all my parts from LMC Truck. They have been great as far as aftermarket parts until now. Funny, they make aftermarket resistors for older models but not for 67-72?
Not real proficient at the electrical stuff, but could anyone advise how to make a different resistor work?
Thanks

Re: Heater blower resistor
Go ahead and get one for a 69-70 Torino. It should be a good substitute and readily available. https://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/fordpar ... OZ-18591-A

Re: Heater blower resistor
Not sure which 3 out of the 4 connections to use looking at it in the pic. It may be my only option.
Thanks

Re: Heater blower resistor
The difference between the the 3 terminal and 4 terminal resistors can be seen here. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... ing_04.jpg. The 4 terminal were typically used for AC equipped models. For the 3 terminal, the power to the blower motor comes from a connection to the 3 prong plug itself, the motor only has 2 wires, one for power and one to chassis ground. The 4 prong has a separate terminal to the motor, the motor has 2 wires, one for power and one for ground and is grounded with a wire to chassis ground. To use a 4 terminal resistor, plug up the 3 prong connector as usual and run another wire from the standalone terminal to the motor. If your connector has that spliced wire, cap it off so it doesn't accidentally ground out. To verify, plug up your connector, turn the blower on and test for power at the standalone terminal. The voltage should vary with fan speed. Hopefully, one of our electrical gurus will chime in with confirmation?
Edit: Both motors have 2 wires, one for power, one gor ground. Went back and checked my photos.

Re: Heater blower resistor
I think I'm understanding. My 3 prong plug to the resistor from the heater fan control switch DOES have a wire spliced in, coming out the back of the plug that goes to the motor. That wire should be capped off and not used. The plug will fit on to the Torino resistor leaving 1 prong unused on the resistor. I should then run a wire from that prong to the motor. The motor also has a ground wire that will be hooked back to ground.
Sound right?
THANKS! ( I hope )

Re: Heater blower resistor
The Torino resistor works! Had to do some modification to the resistor board and inlarge the opening it mounts in on the heater unit. Installed the unit back in the truck today. The fan switch on the truck has 4 speeds. Now I have 3 and the slow speed is barely turning the motor. The other 2 speeds are good.

Re: Heater blower resistor
Glad it worked for you. Kind of disappointed it didn't work perfectly but at least it works enough.
