Help identify this dash plug???

Post by Scuzzy_1250 »

Hey guys so I have a 69 f100 240 and I'm going through the wiring. And this was in my front dash it was cut and I have absolutely no idea what it's for. Pictures are in the link.

It doesn't look like it's OEM to me.

That protective cap that swings around to cover the receptacle makes me think that it was an exterior connector of some sort that was repurposed for a different use.

Could it have been used to provide power&ground for an accessory that was supposed to be easily removable? (I'm guessing that it might have been for a radar detector or an after-market radio).

I'd be curious to know what it was wired into.

I feel like I have seen that sort of thing for things like spot lights, and perhaps for an electric trailer brake prior to the advent of 6 & 7 pin trailer connectors...

It is obviously older, it isn’t factory and there is really no telling what it was used for, people do weird stuff to cars and trucks...

I'm inclined to agree, but I think trailer connectors start at a minimum of four pins.

Super old trailer connectors then hahaha. Well thanks dudes. Much appreciated

It is weird having that in my dash and I have a cargo light switch and I don't even have a cargo light. Or is that for the dome?
