Philco AM Radio to FM?
Just bought a 1972 F100 and it has a really nice working AM Philco Radio in it and I'd like to be able to get FM stations or use my phone to play music. I could swap out the whole thing for a. single DIN radio and a new speaker but I have other stuff I would rather do with that money now. Are there any ways to get FM stations by converting the radio without sending it off to a company to pay a bunch of money? I found this on crutch field http://www.crutchfield.com/p_607FMDA25/ ... 705&awdv=m . Would that work with what I'm trying to do or any other options y'all have used? Thanks in advance

That looks like you need to have a newer FM radio to use it.
Back in the day ,there were FM converters that plugged in through your antenna and mounted under the dash.
They were better than nothing. IF , you could find one today, It should be cheap (or free) .

Actually found some on eBay a while after posting this. All were under $50, even a few NOS ones. I can install a new one with a new speaker for around $300 for everything so I might just go ahead and do it now if there's no real reliable way
, the one I had in my last bump side turned or great

I've seen a few of those, I like the Bluetooth feature for calling and music on the radios. Ended up getting a $100 JVC unit with all the bells and whistles and a dual voice cool speaker from LMC. Total cost was $180 for everything, just need to figure out how to install this speaker as they don't fit where the old one does exactly

Not that it's particularly helpful now, but there was a write up on slick60's on how to attach an aux input to the stock AM radio in those trucks. Not sure how similar they are to bumps...

Definitely saving this old radio even though I'm replacing it, it works like brand new. Maybe one day I'll put it back in with an aux input, it'll be awhile before this truck is able to go more than just around the block right now though

Have you seen this ? http://m.fordification.com/forum/viewto ... 51&start=0
It will make your AM into a MP3 player, It's not FM but a MP3 to your AM would be a nice addition for it.

That's a pretty cool write up, it has been awhile before I've used a sodering iron. That's be a good rainy day job to do
