71 Shorty F100 - Low N Slow
Just signed up on this site, I use it for everything.. thanks.
I picked this truck up about 6 months ago, motor was stuck, had a smashed grille, no interior.. It was rescued by a local car flipper from a wrecking yard, where a lot of the trim and bits had been pulled already...
I made an offer and got it home. Slapped a carb on it and after changing and priming all the fluids got it to purrr. the motor was stuck, I sprayed pb blast down the cylinders and boom.. problem solved. I think it had just been sitting so long.
71 f100,
FRONT DJM with half coil cut.
REAR- full flipped spring hangers with 6* pinion shim and helper spring removed.
300CUI engine with manual trans
215/70r15 front
225/75r15 rear
needs shocks all around, am going to relocate the rear shocks
do bodywork to hood and paint match, will clean up the floors there is surface rust and some pinholes, then seal and install carpet.
also thinking of Installing a spare 69 Ranger trim grille.
some before and afters.

Re: 71 Shorty F100 - Low N Slow
Acouple updates:
Interior:
Swapped in a late 40's Mopar dome light - mated to original housing and attached in original condition.
Upgraded the shift knob to a more elegant glass knob.
Gutted the interior dash to reveal much preferred look.
And swapped a 69 ranger grille in place of the 71 I had in place.
This winter I'm going to find a parts truck and swap all the front sheet metal, fenders are kind of beat, doors are kind of beat.
This will be the goal anyway.

Looking good. Enjoy
May your sails stay full, and your knots not slip. Unless a slip knot.

Re: 71 Shorty F100 - Low N Slow
Well now we're starting to have fun... After I did the full rear hanger flip, I used a 6* shim to adjust for pinion angle, unfortunately I had a slight vibration at around 45mph.
I decided that I would try out some 8* shims, problem is though, my springs are flexomatic and are 2'' wide.. A real nightmare to find a reasonably priced< 2'' by 8* >, unless I wanted to pay 50$.
My solution was simple,

one could make the argument that machined aluminum or even steel would be superior...... and I'd agree, but these are working as intended.

oh wow!
no big deal, just cast yourself some aluminum!
way too cool, even better that you rescued the truck from scrap. the patina and color is awesome, i'd leave it just as it is.

The plan is to keep the truck semi as-is.. Ill need to color match the hood and replace and color match the fenders and passenger door.

That's awesome!!
I like how you added the personalized touch with the "Reza USA" on them. Did that part come out??

Thanks, It came out faintly. I used a very course grit for this cast and was not expecting the script to turn out. I more or less just felt proud to label them made in USA. With the finer casting sand I've mixed up since, smaller details will be easier to pick up.

Since I've been busy with work, life and my foundry I've only been able to whip up this club plaque, will be finding a home on my rear bumper.
Here is a picture of the progression from start to finish.
First pour, accidently put the input and vent on in the wrong location.. Hamms beer........
cut out with raised border attained with Soldering wire molded to fit. also flushed it with all metal body filler.
the master, after everyhing is in place, I sprayed with a coat of primer filler, a smother surface helps release from the mold easier.
Final plaque
