Brock's 1969 f100

Post by BrockGrimes »

In this thread I'll toss up my updates as i work to build my favorite truck, my 69 f100.

I'm working on a budget of both time and money so updates might be slow.

Follow along and feel free to ask questions, post etc..

My "new" seat from a 88 Ford truck.
I drilled out the stock holes where the bolts previously went, had to elongate the holes just a little. Then the stock brackets from the 68 bolted right up.

It's been raining so no work done on the truck. Still gotta put my seat in. So i went out and hunted down a license plate for the old Ford.

Looks like a fun project. How about some details on the mechanicals of the pickup - engine/tranny, etc.
I know it would be improper, but I prefer that style of grill and have considered replacing the grill on my 1971 with something similar to yours.
Texas requires two plates, so I can't use a fun plate on the front. However, on classics and antiques, we are allowed to use the proper plate from the same year as the vehicle. So I found a pair of never issued, 1971 Texas truck plates for my vehicle. I will probably put those on at my next license tag renewal next year.

DOH....forgot the truck spec's...LOL.

It's a:
1969 Ford F100 Ranger
302/5.0 from a 94-96 Bronco
Electric Fan
aluminum radiator
Electric fuel pump
Edelbrock intake and Carb
C4 automatic trans.
Ford 9" Rear
Sky Blue originally

The new seat mounting brackets are from a 68 while the bench seat is from a 88.

The plan is to swap out the front suspension for one from a 73+ Ford with disc brakes and a sway bar. Possibly crown vic later.
Keeping the rear stock but might add a locker, undecided.
Gonna replace the stock fuse box with one from LMC trucks with modern fuses also might add an additional mini 12 circuit from LMC on the passenger side.
I plan to use a harness, chip, and adapter from affordable fuel injection to swap on a chevy throttle body. It's an easy swap and I've done it before on a carbureted jeep.
Need to get the truck blasted and body work finished then painted. Plan is Boxwood green and White 2 tone....we'll see.
I've got some other odds and ends I need to do first and priorities change depending on needs.
Like I need to get my kick down cable installed along with a new shift linkage to the C4.

I'll keep you updated as I make progress, I travel for work so there will be times I'm gone for a bit.

That's awesome...I didn't know you could do that. I am in GA as well, what all is involved with being able to run an original year license plate?

Thanks,

Fill out an affidavit have the tag dept sign it. You then put the old plate on the rear and keep your modern tag in the vehicle. When you renew your tag the sticker goes on the modern tag and if your stopped the police will ask to see it.

Had to get the leaky brake master cylinder swapped out. The first one I bought was new and was dead wouldn't bench bleed. The second was a reman and worked like a charm. However, the mech who did the install didn't bleed the brakes so now I have a spongy pedal. I gotta get out of this apartment so I can work on my own ****!

Since I can't work on my stuff at this time and I'm to busy with work anyway I figure research and planning will have to do.
Here's my idea for my 22 gal mustang gas tank install. The plan is to ditch the inside tank and go with the 22 gal under the bed in the rear.
I plan on doing a similar install to this guy: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/12540 ... stall.html

I'm planning on using one of these filler caps like is on my bike (Yamaha FZ6R):

Image

I'll cut a round hole in the bed weld in a round patch panel to use as a mounting surface to flush mount this with the bed. I do have minor concerns about debris getting around the edge but I feel it's nothing that couldn't be swept or blown away.
