Recommendations for a battery
Looking for a new battery for my other truck and was wondering what you guys thought I should go with.
The local napa says they have one that has a CCA of 750 for 60 bucks.
I have a tractor dealership in town that sells dry batteries (no electrolyte until purchased) that supposedly last longer than an off the shelf battery.
I just don't think the wal-mart specials are all that good. They seem to go bad and dead kinda quick.

I have a yellow top optima. I love it. I haven't killed it yet. I run my winch off of it.

re: Recommendations for a battery
All our vehicles have Interstate batteries in them.
My pickup and Taurus have 1000 cca, my wifes Topaz has a 650 (cause that's all that would physically fit!)
Haven't had a problem with them. Won't buy anything else.

I know 2 people with Optimas, both of them have had to replace them prematurely.
The Jetta has one, which hasn't given any problems yet but if it does I'll replace it with something else...
They now make Autolight reprodictions in Gel Cells, they are expensive though...
These are supposed to be the Hot ticket lately too...
Holley also sells a version:

re: Recommendations for a battery
The only battery that I recall that was worth anything was a DieHard from yesteryear. Way back when, the Ford would sit and my dad would fire it right up once every few months. Then one day he parked it in a lot. When he came back to the truck, it didn't crank. He popped the hood and discovered someone made off with the DieHard! Anyway, years later when I needed to replace the batteries on some of my cars, I stuck DieHards in them. $75 a pop. I got tired of replacing them every two years or so. They were still under warranty, but replacing them got old. So I've tried AmpKing, Exide, AC Delco, Interstate. Interstate seemed to hold up the best. That died and I thought I'd try out the red top Optima. Picked it up at Costco $105. I thought, what the heck. I'll see how long that lasts.

I, as a working tech relace approx. 100 batteries per year! Fact! The highest survival rate i've seen is in the bxt 65-850 motorcraft battery. Ron

In my 98 F150 I still have the orginal battery that came in the truck, oh 8 years old and just hit 100K this past week, starting to worry me it lasted so long, LOL.... I've had good luck with Durlast before and I have had bad luck with Napa batteries.

My '96 F250 still has the original battery. 10+ years, only around 70,000 miles. Sometimes the truck dosen't run for week or two, still starts fine in all weather. I started to be concerned a few years ago. I've got cables......
