Dana 44 front. Issues to look for

Post by cancow »

I have a 67 f250 that came without a front driveshaft, so I am assuming that something was wrong with it and hence someone removed the shaft. What should I look for to find out what might need attention? If I jacked up the front should I be able to turn wheels turning the 44 gears by hand?

Yes.
They probably took off the front shaft because the slip joint was bad and never replaced it. :2cents:

It could be a wide range of reasons they pulled it off. The truck may have a big lift in it and they never got a new drive shaft made to fit? The old drive shaft broke or u-joints failed? Or :yt:

Any idea how much a new front driveshaft would cost?
