Originally growing up on a farm in the Mississippi Delta and moving to the suburbs north of Dallas I found myself missing old trucks and working on stuff. Back in the fall I found a 1970 F100 for $860 and somehow made it back to my house through traffic with almost no brakes and having to feather the gas just to get it up to speed but the thing runs good at 75mph, it just can't stop!
I am a tax accountant so it has been sitting for the last few months. Now it is time to get going. I am hoping to have it ready for paint by the fall! I wouldn't paint except the prior owner tried to paint the bumpers and there is black overspray plus a few holes in the door where different mirrors have been. There are very few dents and almost no rust (except the floor pan where it looked like the vent window had been leaking).
Thanks to this forum guys I have been able to:
1) Get the gas gauge working and adjusted (empty actually means empty)

2) Temp gauge working
3) Power steering pump fluid
4) Doors working
5) adjusting the holly carb and rebuilding (along with some help from my neighbor). I knew nothing about holly carbs but I think I have a basic understanding now.
6) replaced the gauge plastic and painted the housing, I still haven't gotten all the the bulbs working but I gave up on that for now.
I know that doesn't sound like much but I am 33 and the last time I worked on old trucks was in my teens so I am a little rusty.
I still have a ton of issues to get fixed before I can get it reliable.
My goal for the truck is to make it a basic clean work truck that I can do projects around the house, take the kids fishing and maybe some hunting someday and basically inject some manliness into my life. I want it to work and be reliable and start up everytime (which it does now but still has some acceleration issues)
I want to do two tone paint, bedliner, seat, fix all leaks, add A/C, power brakes, dash board, replace front bumper, polish and fix all trim ( I think I will save that until last), and someday I will want so add nice wheels and tires.
I will add some better pics later but it is raining today so the garage will have to do.
