I have a '98 F150 that the rear end/axle is shot. The existing is a 3.55 gear. I've found a RE/Axle w/3.73 rear gear. Would this work? If so...draw back, issues, etc.???
Thanks.

Re: '98 F150 Rear End Help
Is the rear end out of a 98 f150? I'm not sure when but some where in the 1997-2003 area ford switched from the 5x5.5 to some metric pattern, so make sure the lug pattern is the same on it. The 3.73s will help the truck move easier but will also make it rev higher on the highway. If you tow a lot, or drive primarily in the city the 3.73 might be an upgrade. You will have to do something about the speedo since the different gears will throw off your reading. Not sure if it has a speedo gear on if its computerized though.
