So my rebuilt Dana 44 which is a king pin axle, has 4.10 gearing currently. The rear is 5.38... I didn't have the shop that installed my new D44 install my front drive-shaft since i have to order a 5.38 ring & pinion for the front. Can i order a 5.38 Ring & pinion for a D44? Like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MGR-D44-538/
Or is there certain ones for king pin axles or ball joint axles? Or does Spline count Matter?
Thanks for any info,
Ryan

Re: Dana 44 Ring & Pinion Gears
There are high pinion and low pinion gears. No difference closed knuckle or balljoint or spline count. D44 carrier break is 3.92 so your 4.10 carrier will work with 5.38's.
FWIW Motive gears are at the bottom. Cheap out on a gearset and driving will be a constant reminder that you did.

I almost always shop with Summit for this type of parts. But do yourself a favor scan the internet for prices, call them up and they will beat the price by a dollar. It all adds up in the end. Also I prefer Summit because they are a reputable company and if there is a problem they will try and help you out as much as possible. They have for me. Just my
