hi all...i know them as automatic and manual...i also have always thought of a manual transmission as a gearbox...thanks

That's terrible wording.

That's synthetic oil for differntials, but can be used in stick transmissions that are made specifically for it. The materials used in the construction of synchros and shift forks are the determining factor. When unsure do not use that oil.

A mechanical transmission is any device that transmits rotational power through mechanical means. Pretty broad terminology.
