Transmission going out? Please Help

Post by rltvader »

Hey guys, I have a 1969 F100 with a 302 and a C4 Transmission. It is shifting but it is delayed more than usual, and at 60mph, it takes forever to shift into third gear, I am going to put some extra fluid in soon, if that doesnt work, what can I do?

Check the vacuum source and the line going to the modulator valve. Also, pull the elbow hose off of the modulator valve and see if the valve is leaking fluid.

Remember to check it when the engine and tranny are both nice and warm. Don't check it cold, it'll give you a false full reading.

I'm with Bobby Ford on this one..If your 1/2 shift is late also, check your vacuum system from the intake to the modulator..look also for ANY leaks in the intake, E.G., a vacuum cap off???
Bad modulator valve....If there is nothing wrong in this area ..........repost...Donnie
