1969 f100 flareside.
3speed on the tree. and i want to make it an automatic.
problem is... i have no idea what i am talking about or doing when it comes to automotive. so first off. is it possible. if so what do i need to know or find out and or do.
if anyone has any good color ideas for the paint job. let me know.

to go to a automatic you need the transmission the correct length driveshaft and a way to shift the transmission. a different steerign column would be the way to go.

Fordman is correct with what he has told you, but there is a little more to it than that.
Other things to consider would be flexplate (flywheel), rear crossmember, cooler and all of the linkages and such.
Some more information about your truck would be helpful, such as the engine, longbed or shortbed.
It's not a hard conversion to make, but it will take some time, and you want to make sure you have everything needed before your start (unless you want your truck to sit for a while).
