Insatlling a 2009 mustang rear

Post by jades addiction »

I have access to a 2009 mustang gt rear and was wondering how much hassle it would be if any to swap out the original rear(1968 f100) .regards Jades_Addiction....
300 six banger 3 speed on the tree with 33,000 orig. miles Next was to get it painted and restored ,3 years later a new motor f(1986 302 5.0 HO ) parts from a 1971 mustang to a 1965 mustang .. huge aluminum radiator to keep at 160 degrees, bored 60 over, cam 750cfm edelbrock with a matching performer, roller rockers on new edelbrock 201 aluminum heads, and mustang headers,HEI distributor, Just put on a power disc brake conversion kit 11 3/4 inch rotors from MPBrakes ,brings a whole new meaning stopping on a dime!Got rear leaf springs ,dropped 2.5 inches and she cruises so much nicer!

Well, I guess it depends on your definition of a "hassle". While it is a solid rear axle, some things that need to be considered are...Axle width, spring and shock mountings, braking system compatability, driveshaft alignment and the ability to connect it. Wheel bolt pattern mismatch or is it? Plus a couple of others I can't think of right now. Can it be done? Absolutely! Is it worth it? That's a decision only you can make. Good luck with whatever you decide, if you need help, that's why the forum is here ;-)

Thanks! ...
I have considered all the work to be done and the swap which probably would have little advantages other then being new and disc brakes ultimately it would just make sense to change the gear fluid and stay on the road. there is nothing wrong with the rear I have now . I think it will be good to keep around until the suspension ,brakes , drive shaft ,and is figured out .
this forum is great!
