Truck Jerks Forward When Put in Gear?

Post by colnago »

All,

Whenever I put my truck into Drive, it jerks forward before settling back. I have a three-speed auto (C6, I believe). Does the jerk mean anything? Do I need to replace/repair anything, or is this simply the nature of the beast?

Thanks,

Joseph

You should have a slight pop forward but nothing like running though the garge door or anything, you should have to fight the breaks to hold her back. Is your idle set high by any chance?

I'll have to claim ignorance on my idle setting. I've been concenrating on brakes (gotta keep her from running into the garage door when she jerks forward). She runs pretty rough right now, unless I get her out on the road, and then she runs a bit smoother. But for now, until I finish with the brakes and the conversion to power steering, she's strictly sticking to the neighborhood. Mostly, I want to make sure I'm not making anything worse by ignoring the jerk (the truck, not the jerk behind the wheel).

Thanks,

Joseph

It could be set to high thats all but all auto cars even new ones have a slight jerk/pop forward ( im sure you know this) play with that an see if it helps at all. besides its free to try with a screwdriver haha
