C4 &C6 servo identification---easy

Post by Donnie »

I am not sure if this info.is available or not, but if it would be helpful, I can provide servo piston identification from the outside of the cover when reading the data on the servo cover..I can tell you the way to tell the size of your 2nd gear servo so you can get the correct 2nd gear..
E.G....the smaller the piston = the softer your 2nd gear will be...A Pinto servo will fit in your truck, but your 2nd will be soggy.........This info is also useful when searching scrap yards for a good core to build.............Donnie :woohoo:

Is this info.posted somewhere that I am unaware of?
Or does no one care?
I just wondered because no one seems interested.
It is about to flip the page, so I thought I would try one more time.
I know a lot of you guys do your own tranny work.............Donnie :hmm:

Donnie,
I had this posted in another thread. All I have is info for C6 intermediate servo and levers. I have no info for the C4's

Here are the C6 intermediate servo specifications:
CODE ON COVER, APPLY DIA, RELEASE DIA, SEAL TYPE
From softest to firmest shift…:
N 1.93-2.92 Molded piston
S 2.00-2.86 "
G 2.04-3.02 O-rings
J 2.07-2.69 "
L 2.07-2.98 Molded piston
D 2.08-2.98 O-rings
P 2.10-2.86 Molded Piston
H 2.34-3.02 O-rings
R 2.48-3.50 O-rings

Here are the C6 servo apply lever ratios:
From least to most apply force…:
A = 1.65:1
B = 1.73:1
D = 1.97:1
E = 1.85:1
H = 2.18:1
F = 2.30:1
The ratios represent multiplied apply force (for example the E lever multiplies band apply force by 1.85 times).
The greater the number the greater the band apply force but the slower the lever actuation.

Thank you BOTH, Donnie and Bobby for this information. This is what I so very much appreciate about this great site is the collective knowledge that's here for the asking.

Thanks Guys!

There should be a triangle, sort of like a peace sign, with a large letter cast into one of the sections...It is LARGE & will be the only one in that segment.......Donnie

Here are the letter codes for the servo sizes for the C4 trans,
These are listed from smallest to largest,,the small were used in Pintos & they only had a 2 clutch drum for the rev/hi.......if you are searching recycle yards for a core, anything above an "A" would be a good find, should have large capacity drums if they have not been changed
As follows:
small to large
W K Z B R A H C ==================H & C are the most difficult to find

Thanks Bobby Ford for your list & for letting me know that your info was listed somewhere
This C4 info & your's could be gathered together if it is possible & pinned if the powers that be would deem it to be worthy........big thanks :fr:
