Cruise-o-Matic swap for a C6 in a '67

Post by SSerious »

I would like to swap out the cruise-o-matic for a C6 in my son's '67.

Is there a guide/how-to thread for this topic?

It would be nice to have all of the components in hand before we start this process. I dont wanna get into it and not have all of the right linkage, cooling lines, driveshaft, u-joints, etc..

Thanks!

assuming the engine is the same for both transmissions. all you have to do is to remove the old mx transmission and botl in the new c6 trnsmssion. you will probably need a different lenght driveshaft. and maybe a new C6 rear transmission crossmember. the shift rod is adjustable. the bellhousing pattern will have to match the engine you have. a 352 will fit a 360/390 enigne and a 6 cyl is the same as a 302 /351w/ 351c. the 351m 400 429 and 460 are the same.

I've just done the swap. Mine was a car type FMX in my '67. I had a short shaft bolted yoke C-6. I changed the tailshaft and housing to the car type (slip yoke), and everything was the same. Output shaft had the same spines, same OAL. Share some more details of your situation:)
