Help/advice....PLEASE!

Post by randyj68 »

Ok, I have a 68 f100 longbed 4x2, factory 390, 3speed...... I pulled the motor and am putting a 390 back in but with a C6....... Im having an issue getting the trans crossmember back to its original holes and the driveshaft appears to be too long now? I was thinking it was a bolt in conversion. The 390/C6 came from a 71 f100...........any input?

the two on the left are for automatic transmissions. the one on the right is for manual transmissions.

Ditto, you can slot the holes in the frame or crossmember and you'll need the 3 speed driveshaft.

i agree with fordman if you are using the 3spd cross member that is the issue you will need to use the c6 cross member

you can probably use the same crossmember. but you will have to drill holes in the frame to make it fit. and a hole in the crossmember so the transmount will bolt on in the right place.

The driveshaft will need to be cut (manual) to fit with the C6 Transmission.
