New guy with a (dubious) new truck
Hello, Jay here from the Knox area. Just drove home tonight in my brand new used '71 250 highboy 4x4. its got a 360, 4 speed, and a bunch of problems... but hey, for 1500 if you can drive it home I think you're doing all right. even at 50 or slower... a lot slower on moderate hills... and have to be push started out of a gas station... right? Anyway already found a bunch of highly useful info here even though my door vin plate doesn't seem to conform. Site is great and I hope to be around frequently.

thanks guys, looks like my first prob to tackle will be the oil in the antifreeze... ugh. gonna run a compression check tomorrow, then most likely pull the heads and pan and see how bad it is. One dead cyl for sure so I'm hoping to be able to do the rings thru the pan without pulling the whole block. Then address the interior lights, speedo, weird shifter, (every time you hit first you punch the dash... huh?), the horrid exhaust, the 16.5 inch rims, ... ooh lord, why did I have to start listing this stuff?
