New here, 70 short bed in Az.

Post by RyanV »

I just found this forum looking for something Ford related and figured i'd join up. I haven't joined any boards related to my truck before, been involved in many boards for Mustangs, and a longtime member in the maverick message board community.

Well i have a 1970 F-100 short bed. It was my second vehicle i bought 12 years ago, my first was my 1973 Maverick that I still have also. I bought the truck for $1000 with a smokey motor, and front end damage but the bed was perfect. My dad deals in used parts with his neighbor so it was pretty easy getting everything I needed to get it togethor. I rebuilt the 390 using some 68 heads, balanced everything, used an edelbrock intake and carb and a mild crane cam. The exhaust is dual 2.5" with glass packs and exits in front of the rear tires. I rebuilt the truck top to bottom in about 9 months. It was kind of my therapy as I was recovering from an accident and not working or going to school back when I was 20. the t18 was swapped in for a puny 3 speed. I put a locker in the back which already had 3.50 gears. All new interior. Added A/C and power brakes and power steering. And all new suspensions bushings, springs, and shocks.

I've put less than 10,000 miles on it since I built it. I only used it as a daily driver for 6 months. the truck and my Maverick are just weekend toys and garage ornaments it seems sometimes. But I don't see myself ever getting rid of the first two vehicles I ve ever owned and built.

Oh, if you guys are like my other forums, you like to see pics. Here's a few I already have on the web.

I've swapped on a chrome rear bumper since this was taken long ago, look smuch better now

This was before I finished up the A/C lines. Didn't get around to doing that until after i was done daily driving it.

After I finished the power steering swap I replaced the big wheel with a Grant Mahogany wheel.

Ya I'm a Blue Bleeder as you call it for sure. Besides the truck and maverick I have had 2 other mavericks, 3 5.0 Mustangs, 01 Mustang, 1950 Ford coupe w/flathead v8, and my daily driver 2010 Focus SES. Here's an old webpage with some pics of my maverick and a couple of the Mustangs I had. http://www.users.qwest.net/~choice87994 ... rides.html

Your '50 caught my eye immediately. I've always wanted a Ford that was born the same year as myself. Not sayin' I'm old... but whew, good luck findin' a clean one to start with.

Thanks for sharing!!!!

Very clean truck Ryan. :wel: from central TX. Are you looking to do any other mods to the truck, or keep it the way it is?
