Updated 1-24-14 My weekend project truck, my daily driver.

Post by jp2005 »

So I thought I would start a project thread because Ive been busy on this thing the last few weekends. So lasted weekend or so I installed new pulleys and the weekend before that I paint valve covers. So this weekend was a project! The PO sprayed undercoat in the engine bay area and it wasn't made to with stand heat from engine. So it started to peel and it just looked bad. I started on a Thursday 31st and finished on Monday 3rd so it took awhile to scrap this stuff off.

All done, by the way If your wondering I pushed it outside to paint it. Ill take more photos later when the compressor done. It took lots of work but looks 100% better.

So lasted week I started looking at my aux gas tank filler hoses and how dry roded they were. I knew they leaked when I did put gas in the tank but never got around to replacing them. So I'm thinking to myself do I really want to start this project right now. mmm its not going to affect the truck from running tomorrow so I went for it. I unscrewed the clips and realized I wasnt able to reach the tank clips on less I dropped the tank. Oh wow what I found, was a pile of rocks in between the skid plate. Also I found a small hole in my gas tank from a piece of metal rubbing it for awhile. So I finally got the tank dropped and I still had fuel in the there so I drained it and put it in the cab tank. Its was alot because I didnt realize I had to flip the valve to get fuel from the aux tank    stupid me!!!! I plan on finishing up this weekend hopefully, going to put a coat of paint on the two and I got all new hardware since I break one of the bolts trying to take it off. So heres some pictures of my project right now.

So I was able to to finish installing my tank this weekend. I painted it and put all new hoses. I haven't filled it up yet to test the sending unit. But here are few pictures.

Very nice work. Your truck thanks you. It's amazing how much PO's can mess up a truck where it can't be seen!!!

Yep it is, it protects the gas tank. You could probably get one at a junk yard with hardware to install.
