speedo gear for 71 4sp. mt

Post by DMiller »

Hey Guys,
Can anyone post a pic of the speedo gear for the 71 with a t18 trans. My truck does not have one for reference.
The DC and LMC catalogs have got me confused! Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info, but my question probably should have been more specific. I need to know which type of gear I need.
From what I have seen, there are 2 different types.

i cant remember which type the t-18 takes. it may take the type that the cable screws onto. not the type that is made onto the cable.

The NPD catalog shows a "type 3" or "type 3A". The type 3A has a longer gear tooth on it.

Thanks for the help Fordman, I think I'll get the type 2. Maybe my local NAPA's got one.

Good evening DMiller!

Here are some photos of the speedometer gear (and related area) from my 1972 F250, T18, Dana 60 3.73.

I took these photos while adapting a V3/Teleflex speedometer to my truck; that ongoing adventure's documented here: Could I ask for advice on attaching my Teleflex/V3 gauges?

Have a fantastic Friday and weekend DMiller!
